Pulmonary Function testing (aka Spirometry) is a group of tests that measure how well a person’s lungs work. This includes how well a person is able to breathe and how effective their lungs are able to bring oxygen to the rest of their body. PFT’s are often used in Occupational Health to determine if an individual exhibits restrictions that may limit their ability to perform the essential functions associated with their job, such as their ability to safely use a respirator.
